Jungle

Louise Mootz France 2019 52 min Documentary

"A truly queer and feminist film with an unusual urgency" was the motivation when the film won the prestigious Visions du Réel. Unbridled, energetic, intimate and completely uncensored as we follow a colorful group of 20-year-old girls in the 20th arrondissement of Northeastern Paris - where director Louise Mootz grew up and one day decided to document her group of friends during a few of their transformative years. A carefully told portrait of a generation in which our expressive protagonists tackle expectations and ideals with attitude and joy of life. A fearless film where the conversations and scenes move seamlessly between life choices, sex, dance and philosophy. "Freedom, equality, sisterhood" are the words sounding from the rooftops of the urban jungle of Paris.
