Two charming, lonely, love-thirsting souls meet in the Helsinki night. Both have had bad luck at work. Lost phone numbers and alcohol also make the love path crooked. The first conversation of the film, between two workmen on a bench, about cigarettes, lung sickness, and expensive funeral cards – shows that maestro Aki Kaurismäki is in top form. The memorable lines are dense. Further: Love! Karaoke! Spiked coffee! difficult relationships! Smoking indoors! World-class shadows! Unrenovated windows! Pastel colors! Forklifts! It's all there. But above all: a touching and warm-hearted little love story that is presented so insanely beautifully by Alma Pöysti and Jussi Vatanen - who are guests at the opening. (And the cool pop duo in one of the bar scenes is Maustetytöt!, who also visit us during the festival)
