Paradiset Brinner

The family bond between three sisters is strong in a messy existence with a lack of parenting. Like stray dogs, they nurture each other on instinct and without structure, but also provide security. When social services announce a home visit, Laura, who is the oldest, desperately tries to hold the family together, while her own need to escape from reality eats away at the siblings' relationship. The line between despair, in the inescapable reality, and euphoric freedom is really thin. Mika Gustafsson's fine feature film debut in the long format had its premiere in the competition class at the Venice Film Festival 2023. Impressive acting, beautiful images, bold scenography, and a lovely soundtrack create a lust for more.
