Vintersaga
Swedish winter was described fragmentarily and accurately in Ted Ström's text for Vintersaga. In Carl Olsson's film, the scenes come to life, with an equally astute visual language. It is icy and gray cold, but there is a warmth in the relationships depicted. A warmth in humanity and the common, at the same time that it is both cringe, tragic and hysterically funny. The film language is documentary Roy Andersson, and the viewer gets both time to take in all the scenes and the opportunity to orientate themselves through dialects and known landmarks. Not least if the song's lyrics are fresh in your memory - a hot tip! Because you want to recognize yourself in all these corners of our elongated country when the great sadness rolls in.
