Guests of Honour

Johan Airijoki

Honorary Music Guest

Johan Airijoki is an artist, songwriter and musician from Gällivare in northern Sweden. Deeply rooted in the mining communities of the north, he has over the past decade established himself as one of Sweden’s most distinctive voices within rock, folk, country, blues and soul.

Johan’s music captures the spirit of northern Sweden through a powerful, warm and deeply narrative sound. Moving between everyday life, darkness, hope, humour and sharp social observations, his songwriting has created a unique artistic expression that resonates with audiences across the country.

Touring extensively under his own name, Johan has also been part of several musical collaborations and constellations over the years, including Livets Lirare together with Moonica Mac and Arvid Nero. He has also collaborated with artists such as The Tallest Man on Earth, Ellen Sundberg and Movits!.

Since his debut, Johan has released several critically acclaimed albums, including:
Rockens vingar (2025)
Gitarrer och blåjeans (2023)
Får jag vara din kille (2020)
En blyg viol (2018)
Allting kommer att bli bra (2017)
Vissa saker måste brännas (2015)
Jag tror det handlar om att (2014)

His latest album, Rockens vingar, explores a wide musical spectrum while staying rooted in a warm, organic, live-recorded sound. With an expressive openness, it stands as both his heaviest and most fragile album to date.

For his songwriting and musicianship, Johan has received several awards and recognitions. In 2020, he was awarded the SKAP Singer-Songwriter Award, with the motivation:

“A rock poet whose expression reaches straight into the listener, with a grounded sound and lyrics that are dark yet still allow light to seep through the cracks. He achieves the remarkable feat of sounding as though he has always been among us.”

Beyond music, Johan also has a background as an elite snowboarder. He won the Swedish National Championship in halfpipe and has represented Sweden on the national team.

We are proud to welcome Johan Airijoki as this year’s Honorary Guest in Music.
