This Year’s Honorary Music Guest: Johan Airijoki

We are proud to welcome Johan Airijoki as this year’s Honorary Music Guest – an artist we look forward to highlighting in this year’s programme.

With roots in Gällivare and an artistic expression moving between rock, folk, country and blues, Johan Airijoki has established himself as one of Sweden’s most distinctive musical voices. His songwriting carries grounded, deeply relatable stories alongside sharp social observations, often expressed through darkness, warmth and humour.

Johan Airijoki on coming to Filmfest Sundsvall:

“I’m really looking forward to coming to Filmfest Sundsvall as this year’s Honorary Music Guest. As a songwriter, I can relate to filmmakers. Writing songs is about creating scenes – the music stages moods, and the lyrics create images in the listener’s mind. I also have some experience in acting. It feels similar to being on stage and following the emotion in the music.”
