Cellist, singer and composer Emma Augustsson creates music that moves between jazz and contemporary classical music. Her cross-disciplinary collaborations span contemporary dance, theatre and visual art. At Filmfest, she will bring her cello to improvise and perform something new, as well as a piece from her album Mirage.

A musical force and versatile artist who has appeared on stages ranging from opera houses, concert halls and clubs to P3 Live. She has collaborated with artists including bob hund, Ison & Fille, Kajsa Grytt and Hans Ek. Her latest single, Vårvinter & jag söker mitt blod, marks a new direction, with lyrics in Swedish. Wrapped in genre-crossing pop with touches of soul and gospel, her new material finds itself somewhere between the big city and the Hälsingland of her childhood.

She has been described as Sweden’s best-kept rock secret and praised by everyone from The Revue and Rolling Stone to P1 Kultur and DN Kultur. Known for her high-energy live performances, P1 Kultur said she “makes Nick Cave jealous”. Rooted in the uncompromising spirit of post-punk and with sonically epic soundscapes, her music has drawn comparisons to artists such as PJ Harvey, Patti Smith and Tom Verlaine.
