Mental Health in the Creative Industries

In recent years, the myth of the suffering artist has given way to a real discussion. A 2018 study of the UK music industry showed that mental health problems are three times more common among musicians than in the general population. Creative professions are described as increasingly isolating. You are expected to forge your own path and, in addition to regularly producing high-quality art, promote yourself on social media and perhaps also act as your own manager, booking agent and record label/gallerist/administrator/financial manager. How do we find a balance?
